ProZ.com announces 2010 virtual conference series: Translation³

ProZ.com announces 2010 virtual conference series: Translation³

Three exciting events to be hosted for translators, translation agencies and global translation buyers.

SYRACUSE, NY July 7, 2010 — ProZ.com, the world's leading online community of language professionals, announced today that it will again host a series of virtual trade fairs and conferences in 2010. Building on its successful 2009 event, which saw over 7,000 attendees, ProZ.com will host three separate events in 2010 – one each for freelance translators, translation agencies, and global translation consumers. The events will be conducted entirely online, making it possible for any industry professional to attend, for free, from anywhere with Internet access. The dates set for the virtual conferences are:

  • Freelance translators event: September 30th, 2010 (International Translation Day)
  • Translation agency event: October 13th, 2010
  • Global translation consumer event: November 10th, 2010

ProZ.com virtual conferences offer attendees unparalleled access to educational content, networking opportunities and more, all within a rich and engaging online environment.

"I really felt like a part of a big (and what a great!) community," said attendee Camilla Larsen. "It was a nice break from my daily work to be able to attend a global conference with interesting presentations. It should become a Translator’s Day tradition."

Drew MacFadyen, ProZ.com's director of outside sales, commented, "Last year’s virtual conference was a huge success. Feedback from attendees, exhibitors and all involved was tremendously positive. In 2010, virtual conferences will be taken a step further, with three separate and unique events bringing the virtual event format to translation agencies and global translation consumers as well as freelance translators. This year, ProZ.com's virtual conferences will have over 50 sessions in multiple tracks, panel discussions, question and answer sessions with industry experts and more."

"ProZ.com's virtual conference was the first virtual event for Across Systems," commented Heike Nock, Marketing Manager for Across Systems Inc. "At first, we were really skeptical, but in the end we were overwhelmed by the leads we generated and the great support from the people at ProZ.com. Being part of this event allows exhibitors to gain great exposure with little effort and relatively little expense. This event format offers a superb value, especially in this time of marketing budget cuts and the freezing of travel expenses,” said Nock.

Thanks to strong support from sponsors and exhibitors, these events will be free to attend. (Advance registration is required; a cap of 10,000 attendees may be instituted.). Sponsors include industry-leading companies SDL Trados, Lionbridge, STAR, and memoQ.
