ProZ.com Partners with TAUS on Post-Editing Training

December 8, 2014, Amsterdam  - ProZ.com will offer the TAUS Post-editing training through its platform, allowing over 20,000 translators registered on the ProZ.com platform to educate themselves in machine translation and the best practices in post-editing machine translation. The online training is concluded with a certification.

The TAUS online course is aimed at translators and linguists who want to learn the best practices and skills to become more efficient and proficient in the activity of post-editing machine translation output. TAUS has developed the post-editing training together with language service providers in different countries. The online course is now available for thirteen languages with more to follow.
"MT post-editing as a service in the global translation industry is increasingly being leveraged to meet the rapidly growing demand in the translation market", says Drew McFayden, VP of sales at Proz.com."ProZ.com as a leader in training linguists is pleased to partner with TAUS in offering their online courses to our members.”
The course consists of a generic part covering the general skills and practices and two language-specific parts addressing the particular errors by different target languages. The course contains six modules and can be completed in a week (approx. 1 hour per module, the evaluation and the post-editing assignments excluded). Upon successful completion of the course, students obtain the TAUS Post-Editing Certificate and a stamp to add to their e-mail signature and/or web site.
We are very happy to work together with Proz.com in promoting this course”, says Jaap van der Meer, director of TAUS. "We expect the boundaries between translation memory and machine translation to blur in the coming years. CAT and MT tools will converge and post-editing will become a common practice. It is good for professionals in the translation industry to acquire the skills and knowledge about post-editing.
"I'm really glad I went through the course. I learned a lot, and I would recommend taking the course for whatever objective you might have.” Jost Zetzsche - Writer of the Tool Box Journal | A computer journal for translation professionals.
