Hello
How to generate files for IOS apps and for Android apps?
I am looking for a (free) tool which would accept the input once and generate two (or more) separate types of apps? What are the formats?
any doc on the subject?
(I knew SPIP, a content management tool which generated HTML / web sites but
the last doct is dated 2004. So normally it doesn't generate app.

Just google for "app builder", "app generator", or "app maker".

BUT such apps are no real apps, they are just web pages for small screens.
"App" is just slang in the smartphone world. Actually it means "application", i. e. a piece of software. Software is written by programmers using a programming language. Are you familiar with a programing language and its use? On principle there is no difference between an app and a PC software; actually it may be easier to write a PC application than a smartphone app.

I think you are a bit confused on what an app is. What does your app do? IF you want to create an appp you have to be able to code, by the very nature of your question its clear you don't know how to code, so what exactly is it you want this app to do?

I know what app(lication) is , but I am more familiar with applications which are on PC / Unix.
I don't know the characteristics of smartphone apps.
The app's purpose would be to teach foreign languages (not a dictionary). Mainly dialog with some pictures.
I just investigate for a friend who is specialist of language teaching and I don't intend at all to write the code myself.

The goal is also to have only one higher level sthg to support.
Thanks if you have some ideas on the subject. Until now I didn't find anything on wikipedia / google.

There are some tools that allow you to build very simple apps or mobile webpages that are usually universal. If you want anything more complicated, you typically need to find a developer and have them build it, unless you already posses the skills and software to do it.

To put it simply, it's kind of complicated. There are some tools that allow you to build very simple apps or mobile webpages that are usually universal. If you want anything more complicated, you typically need to find a developer and have them build it, unless you already posses the skills and software to do it.
A friend of mine quoted me $5,000 for my little project, and that was with "buddy discount". I ended up making a mobile website with Adobe Fireworks and Dreamweaver that simulates what I wanted to do with the app. It's pretty cool, but it took almost a year for me to learn enough to make a demo version of my "app".
It depends on what you want the app to do and how you want it to work.
Fireworks costs $150, Dreamweaver runs for about $250. I have the Adobe Web and Design Premium CS6 suite which costs about $900. ▲ Collapse

I will investigate on simple app builders. (can they develop complex enough apps) or if code is necessary for that type of processing.
I also need to figure out what to do with linguistic data (big) and student's statistics.
