Is it possible to set the text background colour to black, and to have yellow or at least white text with dark blue segment highlight, to save one's eyes a bit, in Memoq?

I can't seem to find how to do it, even if I really mastered the colours in Studio.

Thanks!

That feature is not available in MemoQ as in Trados.

I have been using those from last month and now everything is better with my eyes ─ I was suffering eye strain, and very dry sensation on them for two years. No the problem is fixed with my Gunnars.

On the other hand to avoid burning your eyes with intense white screens another option is F.LUX ─ https://justgetflux.com/
But is not as good as the glasses.

I hope the info can help you.

Isn't it black and white by default? Sep 22, 2016

First, unlike Trados offering a kind of torture like this:

and you need to change ("master") colors by yourself, memoQ by default shows all text black in white background, even if it is originally yellow in yellow. Why do you need to change it?
Second, even if you do really need, this feature IS available in memoQ:
Tools - Options - Appearance - Text colors (for text) OR Alternating row colors (for background).
Unlike Trados again that has a limited number of colors, memoQ allows you to select any color or shade (same as MS Word range of colors). Not a big deal of course, but...

Thank you! Sep 22, 2016

Thank you Juan, for the clear answer. I will have a look at those glasses, interesting enough indeed!

Stephan, you should look up what "high contrast" means. I would never want to work on "black on white" again.

See how it looks in Studio:

Untitled

I was really considering shifting (all of my TMs and termbases) to Memoq for other functionality (and speed), but I cannot work like this...

That's not correct.
In Trados you have the choice of dozens of colors for the background, text, active segment etc.
(- Options - Colors)

To Tomi,

I've tried different backgrounds and personally I prefer a soft yellow background, with very dark blue letters.

I think in MemoQ it's not possible to change the background color.

Misunderstanding Sep 22, 2016

@Tomi Dobaj
Sorry, my mistake. I did not completely understand your question.

@TalTranslations
Yes, dozens. But not all. In memoQ you can select any color for each second row.

Each second row is not workable.
Especially not if you want a black background like Tomi does.
Then you would have a whole screen with black and white stripes (rows).

This is main reason I do not like to use this tool. It is very distracting to see all white, alternating with WHITE!
