The user manual is still for version 3.5, so if you want to see how new features work, visit the individual feature request links in the changes.txt file, or ask in the Yahoogroup.

The two biggest changes in version 4 are the inclusion of an interactive aligner and a redesigned team projects system.

The aligner has some cool features (e.g. colour highlighting with regular expressions that makes it easier to spot mismatching segments) but its use is limited to files that are actual translations of each other and not merely similar to each other.

I know nothing of team projects (too geeky for me), so I'll just quote what the developer wrote in his release:

Team projects were redesigned. Synchronisation is no more restricted to one repository location. This allows, for instance, to create multilingual team projects without duplicating the source documents, or to get files to translate directly online, not only from Subversion and Git, but also from HTTP(S). OmegaT can also (if given sufficient permissions) write files directly online. Complex mappings can be written.

OmegaT now itself manages permissions for the various repositories.

The new local format of team projects is completely changed. A wizard can do the conversion of existing local projects, and it is possible to have both 3.6 and 4.0 client working on the same online 3.6-based team project. A tool to create team projects is now provided. ... However, we really recommend caution before migrating team projects for production purposes. Some team project scripts are no longer supported.

Here are some other features that recently became available in OmegaT:

* Search in source and target text simultaneously
* Panes that are minimised will flash when they have new content
* A new pane with information about the current segment
* The scripting edit window is now colour coded
* Show glossary translation when hovering over a word
* Greatly improved fuzzy dictionary look-up
* Autocompletion now can also use TMs for prediction
* Can select which types of autocompletion appear
* Allow cursor to move to non-active segments, to copy text
* Open source and/or target files in associated viewer
* Machine translate only the current segment on demand
* URLs in glossary etc are clickable (opens link in browser)
* Auto-translate glossary hits when inserting source text
* Easy access to all relevant folders (e.g. config folders)
