Good translation textbooks for Spanish to English translation

Hi,

I am a beginner translator. I am currently completing a certificate for French to English translation but I would also like to learn Spanish-English translation.
Would anyone have any suggestions for good textbooks that adress the differences between Spanish and English syntax, other stylistic considerations, certain pitfalls of Spanish to English translation, and other challenges?

Thinking Spanish Translation Jan 4, 2017

Hi grahamperra,

I'd recommend "Thinking Spanish Translation" by Haywood, Thompson and Hervey (https://www.amazon.com/Thinking-Spanish-Translation-Course-English/dp/0415481309). I used this book as part of my MA in Translation, and I found it to be very practical.
