I grew up in Guangzhou, Southern China and went to Singapore to complete her Bachelor of Economics & Sociology, on a scholarship sponsored by Singapore Press Holding. I graduated with a Bachelor Degree of Economics & Sociology from the National University of Singapore in 1998 and started working as a news journalist for Lianhe Zaobao, Singapore's largest Chinese daily newspaper at that time.

I moved to Melbourne in 2004 and studied at RMIT and graduated as an accredited NAATI Level 3 Translator and Interpreter in 2005. I am a current member of Australian Institute of Translators & Interpreters.
