I am a young German translator with several years of experience. My first attempts at translating outside of school were for the private correspondence of friends, and the discretion required for their letters has been integral to my work ever since.

I have been given the opportunity to work in a wide range of fields and in a variety of settings, helping me gain glimpses of the possibilities of work as a translator.

My work over the years included cell phone applications, flash games, online seminars on music and painting, private and business correspondence, marketing brochures, magazine articles and press releases.

When I passed the German State Examination in 2010, I chose Humanities as my special topic, as it sat well on my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in English and American Studies.

However, I started working for a technical institute of Dresden University in early 2011 and have been translating technical texts since. The high standards of academia have trained my timeliness, accuracy and versatility.

Of course, a translator's education is never finished, and probably the most important characteristic of any serious translator should be the curiosity to never rest on their intellectual laurels but instead to keep striving for more and deeper expertise in whatever subject presents itself to them. That is what makes translating the most exciting profession I could imagine for myself.
