urwüchsig,
geheimnisvoll
Translation - English The forces of nature,
unspoiled,
mysterious
The Müritz National Park is situated to the east of the lake that gave it its name, and it is a place of huge significance, offering in-depth views into nature’s workings. Within that National Park, part of the Serrahn beech forest has been awarded UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site status as one of the ‘Ancient Beech Forests of Germany’.
Eagles circle in the sky, deer graze by the edge of the forest, cranes call like trumpets in the twilight. Ancient oaks stand in the red glow of the setting sun, while reeds sway and whisper in the wind. The passing seasons bring this landscape constantly changing, powerful moods and shades, awakening in us those hidden senses that have long been forgotten.
The spa town of Waren an der Müritz is the centre of the Mecklenburg Lake District, and likewise forms the central hub of the Müritz Region as its largest settlement.
Here, you can enjoy a world of possibilities.
The expanse of Lake Müritz, the proximity to Müritz National Park, and the lively bustle on the marina make the town one of a kind.
Only a short walk away, the Müritzeum welcomes its guests. The NaturErlebnisZentrum, or Nature Experience Centre, plays host, among other things, to the largest fresh-water aquarium in Germany. With its extraordinary architecture, it showcases the convergence of this lively town’s history and modernity.
Ever since the end of the 19th century, Waren has been a favourite spot for summer visitors. Today, it is a state-recognised spa with its own geothermal brine source and a spa resort, the Kurzentrum on Nesselberg.
