Source text - Spanish Para el momento de su primera cita había cumplido varios tratamientos médicos para reducir de peso, incluyendo regímenes dietéticos, ejercicios, y medicamentos, todos ellos guiados por médicos especialistas y con repetidos controles endocrinológicos, sin lograr una disminución de peso considerable o mantenida.
Fue evaluado por el Departamento de Nutrición de nuestra institución diagnosticándose OBESIDAD SEVERA.
Fue evaluado también por Medico Internista y por Psicólogo quienes junto con el Departamento de Nutrición recomiendan tratamiento quirúrgico como única alternativa para su obesidad severa.
En vista de tratarse de OBESIDAD MÓRBIDA SEVERA y basándose en la múltiple evidencia publicada en la literatura mundial y en la alta tasa de comorbilidades asociadas a la Obesidad Morbida y en vista de tratarse de una enfermedad grave no revertible con otros tratamientos, fue intervenido quirúrgicamente el día 25-06-2008, practicándole GASTRECTOMÍA SUBTOTAL EN MANGA POR LAPAROSCOPIA. Evoluciona satifactoriamente, egresando el día de hoy en buenas condiciones generales.
Translation - English When the patient attended his first appointment, he had already followed various medical treatments to lose weight, including diets, physical exercise and medicines, all of them guided by specialists and with repeated endocrinology controls; however no considerable or sustained weight loss was achieved.
The patient was assessed by the Nutrition Department of our institution and was diagnosed with SEVERE OBESITY.
He was also assessed by the Internist and by the Psychologist who together with the Nutrition Department recommend surgical treatment as the only possible alternative for his severe obesity.
Given the fact that the diagnosis is SEVERE MORBID OBESITY, taking into account the multiple evidence published in the world literature and the high rate of concurrent disorders associated with Morbid Obesity since it is a severe disease that cannot be reverted with other treatments, the patient underwent surgery: SUBTOTAL LAPAROSCOPIC SLEEVE GASTRECTOMY on the twenty-fifth day of June, 2008. The patient evolves satisfactorily and is discharged on this day in general good conditions.
