2.1. - Net Investment in a
Foreign Operation
On December 15, 2005, the IASB published a technical correction to IAS 21 "The Effects of Changes in Foreign Exchange Rates.” Technical corrections are intended to introduce amendments to a standard by means of simplified procedure in cases where the wording of the standard when taken in conjunction with the basis for conclusions of the IASB permits interpretations which do not adequately reflect the opinion of the Board or where the application of the standard results in unexpected implications not desired by the Board.
The amendment states that monetary items of a parent company or of one of its subsidiaries (previously only of parent companies) in connection with a foreign operation are to be classified as a component of the net investment in a foreign operation. This shall apply irrespective of the currency in which the monetary item is denominated (previously it only applied to the functional currency either of the parent company or of the foreign operation). Currency differences arising in connection with the monetary item are accordingly to be recorded under equity without any impact on earnings. (One example involves exchange differences resulting from long-term loans granted by the parent company to a subsidiary (the foreign operation) which are concluded in a third currency.
The amended version of lAS 21 is to be applied for the first time to financial years beginning on or after January 1, 2006.

El 15 de diciembre de 2005, IASB publicó una corrección técnica a la norma IAS 21 “Efectos de las Variaciones en las Tasas de Cambio en Moneda Extranjera”. Las correcciones técnicas tienen el objetivo de introducir modificaciones a la norma mediante un procedimiento simplificado en aquellos casos en que la redacción de la norma, considerada conjuntamente con las bases para conclusiones del IASB, permite interpretaciones que no reflejan adecuadamente la opinión del Consejo o cuando la aplicación de dicha normativa da como resultado efectos no deseados por el Consejo.
La modificación establece que las partidas monetarias de la casa matriz de una empresa o de una de sus subsidiarias (anteriormente solamente de la casa matriz) asociadas a una operación extranjera se deben clasificar como un componente de las inversiones netas en una operación extranjera. Esto será aplicable independientemente de la moneda de denominación de la partida monetaria (anteriormente sólo se aplicaba a la moneda funcional ya sea de la casa matriz de la empresa o de la operación extranjera.) Las diferencias monetarias asociadas a la partida monetaria, por consiguiente, serán contabilizadas bajo patrimonio sin tener impacto alguno en las utilidades. En este sentido, podemos mencionar como ejemplo las diferencias de cambio provenientes de préstamos a largo plazo otorgados por la casa matriz a una subsidiaria (la operación extranjera) que se realizan en una tercera moneda.

Source text - English Employee benefits are all forms of consideration given by an entity in exchange for service rendered by employees.
The objective of this Standard is to prescribe the accounting and disclosure for employee benefits. The Standard requires an entity to recognise:
(a) a liability when an employee has provided service in exchange for employee benefits to be paid in the future; and
(b) an expense when the entity consumes the economic benefit arising from service provided by an employee in exchange for employee benefits.
This Standard shall be applied by an employer in accounting for all employee benefits, except those to which IFRS 2 Share-based Payment applies.
Translation - Spanish Los beneficios a los empleados comprenden todos los tipos de retribuciones que la entidad proporciona a los trabajadores a cambio de sus servicios.
El objetivo de esta Norma es prescribir el tratamiento contable y la revelación de información financiera respecto de los beneficios de los empleados. La Norma requiere que una entidad reconozca:
(a) un pasivo cuando el empleado ha prestado servicios a cambio de los cuales se le crea el derecho de recibir pagos en el futuro; y
