French to English: Les Vertus de la Crise - The Perks of the Financial Crisis General field: Bus/Financial Detailed field: Journalism
Source text - French S'extraire des sables mouvants de la dette d'Etat. Edifier une gouvernance crédible de l'euro. Ces deux défis cruciaux, le peuple les aborde en maugréant. Il faut dire que nos dirigeants auront, en trois décennies, bercé le populaire avant de le flanquer, dans l'épreuve, au pied du mur. Il est sonné mais enfin édifié.
Translation - English The two main challenges that face the French are to escape the quagmire of the national debt and as an integral part of Europe to lay the foundations for credible governance over the euro. The French public approach these issues complaining bitterly. In their defence, they have for the last 30 years been sheltered from the truth and now their backs are up against the wall, the short sharp shock has arrived and now they are all too aware.

Bio
Qualified as a translator to Master's level (awarded with Merit). My dissertation has been used in a variety of academic contexts including a 'Young Leaders Global Environments' conference, with the author, Edgar Morin's permission and endorsement.Translation of Edgar Morin's "La Voie pour l'avenir de l'humanité"
I've gained professional experience translating a broad range of text-types from Astro-physics to Fine Art. I relished the challenge of translating several Social Sciences, Philosophy, Politics & Economics journals for a well known academic publisher. I've also enjoyed working on NGO related legal texts for Scriptoria Communications, the treatment for a French Canadian film, as well as handling the localization of marketing materials for a range of companies from local to corporate.
I am also a qualified teacher of both French and English as a Foreign Language. I've taught in numerous educational settings ranging from devising creative exercises to finely tune and perfect the English of student air traffic controllers at l'ENAC and teaching complete beginner Aerospatiale employees in Toulouse, to French A'Level to young Brits with outstanding results.
Another educational project I'm involved in which fires my imagination is the Translators in Schools project. You can find me on the graduates page.
My own studies have included a Btec in Business & Finance with French and Commercial Law, A'level French, BA Hons in French (Philosophy, History, Linguistics, Art, Literature), TEFL, PGCE in Modern Foreign Language teaching as well as the Master's in Translation.
Scrupulous in my research and application of translation methodology, I work hard to ensure delivery of well written target texts which sit comfortably within the target culture. I can also offer proof-reading and editing services for English texts.
