The article is quite interesting, yet the author forgot to mention that all her observations, or the results of any research used in this article, refer only to the so called intermediate stage of language learning which we can perhaps call the "fuzzy"stage (a much better use of the word than for "fuzzy matches") in my opinion, where the learner's newly acquired language may still have a lot of erroneous constructions due to the interference from their L1, or even other languages they know. This is a stage where the learner's competence is not fully crystalized yet. At the advanced stage there may be fewer mistakes resulting from the L1 interference, and at a very proficient level close to none. The language characterized by L1 interference is just a temporary stage in language learning, if the learning process does not end at this stage -- just like in natural language acquisition.
