Is there anyone making a living mainly as a proofreader/rewriter?

I did, for almost a decade. My diploma in translation notwithstanding, I consider my stint as a reviewer taught me most of what I know about translating. I stopped enjoying that line of work with the advent of globalization, when the quality of the translations became far too erratic. I have since switched to translating full-time, but I do feel getting started as an editor/proofreader is an excellent way to build both your skills and your contacts in the translation field.

Best of luck to you.

Susana
