Advice Company Name Thread poster: SEA Language

Hello Folks,
I am all set to open up a startup small sized company with a focus only on Southeast Asian languages. I would like your suggestions as the name of the business. I have thought of "SEA Language" or "SEA Languages" but it sounds bit typical.

This name is based on Singapore the most prominent city-state of the region. The name Singapore is derived from the Sankrit word Simhapur meaning Lion City.
Taking Simha out of this, we can coin a name like Simha Translations. It is exotic sounding, easy to pronounce and remember and is culturally relevant to the region as most of the countries there have a rich Hindu past, particularly Indonesia.

Will you be translating European into SEA languages?
-> go for SEA language, it also refers to "see" and "sea" (large body of water)
and it is easy to pronounce...
Are your clients more local business, you might want to go for something more exotic and culturaly relevant.... of that is understood by people in different languages...

I see no sense in trying to be slick, just for the sake of it.
I would advise against "SEA language" as in the English-speaking world it might suggest frivolous associations (see, for example, the title of this post: a couple of the associations that spontaneously suggest themselves).
I would also advise against "SEAL" since this would have associations with sea-lions, "sealing" things (chemical products), or US Navy Seals.
Why not be simple, obvious, and... See more I see no sense in trying to be slick, just for the sake of it.

Perhaps that would provide some guidance, e.g. SEA Financial Translations. Or something slightly more generic such as SEA Commercial Translations.
That could simultaneously provide a focus for your business while letting clients know exactly what you do.

Thanks Sheila, but SEAL will definitely mislead with US Navy SEAL, or something else, as already said by Tom (in London). How about SEALTS (SEA Language Translation Services)?
Simha Translations doesn't seems good because it doesn't reflect anything about the target language/targeted market (SEA countries) except, Singapore.
Tom, I have also have to keep in my mind about the logo and also the domain name. So, i prefer not to go with the very long names.... See more Hi,

Richard, thank you for suggesting SEA Commercial Translations. This is the best I liked so far.

If I were you, I would be very careful about discussing these issues in a public forum like proz.com as it is quite easy for a mischief maker to register a domain with these names for a few dollars and then you will have to pay a premium to him to get that name for yourself.
Or worse, a competitor might pinch the names you come up with and use it for his company.
These things are best done behind closed doors, or with a select list of reliable people through private emails, if you want to brainstorm your ideas.
