Hi all,

I am a self-employed translator based in UK. I wanted to make my business more visible and create a professionally looking website. I translate mainly for fashion, marketing, web and printing, so a lot of creative stuff. I also do a lot of copywriting, localisation and transcreation work. So far, I have come up with three possible names - what do you think would work best?

I'd appreciate your feedback!

Not literary? Jun 25, 2015

I think the second and third names you propose would suggest that your work is mainly in the field of translating short stories and novels. If this is not the case, I would rule them out.

Soft Words Jun 25, 2015

Out of the three, I like Soft Words Translations, or maybe a version in singular, best.

Long Story Short sounds a bit like a cliché.

Part Fiction Translations? Hmm. Which parts of fiction will you translate? Or does it mean you'll only translate the first half?

However, fashion to me is more about cutting edge, avant-garde, and I'm not so sure Soft Words match that very well. Maybe marketing, but that entirely depends on the type of product. Soft Words for

Silk Jun 25, 2015

I like "Soft Words Translations"!

Why not something with SILK, like Silky Words? Just an idea as you work in the fashion field ...which I envy

Trendword(s) Translation Jun 25, 2015

According to your special translation fields - fashion, marketing etc.- I suggest something that make potential customers think that you are:
1) always up to date on these topics
2) able to translate with the most suitable and actual words

Good luck!

Maybe Soft Text or Soft Verse?

I think Soft Words Translation hasn't been taken as a domian name.

Too romantic Jun 25, 2015

For me, the name Soft words Translations sounds a little too romantic and gives the impression - to me personally - that you might be a bit hesitant in using words, as speaking only in a whisper.
And then there is a risk that this name might be confused with "software".

Choose something dynamic, easy to pronounce and memorize in different languages.
Your agency name is the first impression you leave to your future clients.

I like second one best Jun 25, 2015

Personally I think the second one works best.
"Soft Words" sounds too hesitant - after all good copy is supposed to be punchy.

Fresh Lines?
Andrea - I was thinking about what you said. Fresh Lines is also definitely more dynamic than Soft Words, at least I think so. What do you think?

Brainstorm Jun 25, 2015

If you want your name to reflect textiles and printing, how about a name like Calico or Canvas?

I'm not sure if these are already taken - that's always half the battle!

Right direction Jun 25, 2015

@Aleksandra: Yes, this is the right direction, but there is a Philippine transport company with this name.
