See more Common Sense Advisory, in association with InterpretAmerica (http://www.interpretamerica.net/) is conducting a first-of-its kind, in-depth analysis of the interpreting profession in North America -- including interpreting services for spoken and signed languages, delivered remotely or in person, and across all settings -- legal, conference, military, educational, social services, and health care, among others. • How much do sign language and spoken language interpreters earn annually, on average? • What are the average hourly and daily rates for face-to-face and conference interpreting services in the United States? • What kinds of certifications are most commonly accepted by buyers, suppliers, and interpreters? • How much education and training is typical for working interpreters today? • What percentage of the market corresponds to medical interpreting, judiciary interpreting, conference interpreting, and other settings? • Do bilingual staff who work as interpreters receive training and compensation for this work? • What role does technology play, and do stakeholders perceive it as a threat? Our research will answer these and other essential questions about the interpreting field as a whole. We'll send each respondent a complimentary summary of the survey results as thanks for your participation. We are surveying three major stakeholder groups: • Interpreters. If you work as an interpreter (no matter what other jobs you might also hold), please click here: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/9XS9DTP • Organizations that use/purchase interpreting services. If you represent an organization (such as a hospital, social services agency, or health care provider) that uses interpreting services, please take this survey: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/9XQ35RC • Vendors/suppliers. If you are a vendor of interpreting services, click here: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/9XTL62M Please help us reach as many people as possible by forwarding this call for participation to other listservs, associations, groups, and organizations that use, provide, or purchase interpreting services – in all settings where interpreting services are provided. The complete results will be presented at the 1st North American Summit on Interpreting on June 17, 2010 in Washington, D.C. You're welcome to join us at the event (for more information, visit the event website http://www.interpretamerica.net/) For any questions, please don’t hesitate to email me off-list ([email protected]). Thanks in advance for your help in spreading the word about this important initiative! ▲ Collapse | |
