... See more First, some background:
- In 2013, a lady writer posted an article in a popular news website.
- Years later, another lady posted the same article on at least two websites (linkedin.com and issuu.com), deceivingly posing as the author of the article.
- Later, the plagiarist posted on ProZ a link to the stolen article she had posted on Linkedin and a copy of the article, claiming, in a series of postings, not only that she was the rightful author, but that the actual author of the article had copied her article.
- After being questioned by several ProZ users, the culprit simply deleted the content of her postings, without giving any explanation as to her improper conduct.
Naturally, numerous ProZ members were left wondering, why? Why would somebody blatantly plagiarize a literary piece from a well-known web site, and then post it, without the proper credits, on other well-known sites, thinking she would get away with it?
Beyond the obvious immorality of the act, what is really mind-blowing is the utter lack of common sense, the underestimation of people’s intelligence and the detachment from reality exhibited by the plagiarist.
Me too, like others, I am still wondering, why?

Not everyone is going to keep checking if everything passing on the screen is plagiarised or not - most people simply have other priorities. And not everyone knows how to check!
And the risk is quite limited, so "who cares"!
