I really loved the Swedish translation--superb-- absolutely great rhythm that goes with the original melody. Perfect. I can only read some languages, but many of the translations I read were interesting. | | | texjax DDS PhD Local time: 20:22 Member (2006) English to Italian + ... The grading system needs improvement | Feb 13, 2014 |
In order to ensure fairness, participants should not be allowed to grade or comment the translations of other contestants. This represents a serious flaw in the grading system.

[Edited at 2014-02-13 22:37 GMT] I partially agree, participants shouldn't be allowed to grade. I noticed that some participants may take the competition a littke too seriously. But I believe they should still be allowed to add "tags" and comment, they often have valuable linguistic inputs to show and share, it would be too bad to lose anyone's input during the grading stages. Congratulations to all winners and participants for the interesting texts they allowed us to taste, and the ideas and linguistic "solutions" we had the chance to enjoy! It was a unique experience | |

I agree that the grading system is flawed. Second and third place votes should not be taken into account, and if they are, every voter should be forced to actually place a 2nd or 3rd place vote. During the last contest, in one language pair, the winning contribution got less 1st place votes than the runner-up. In other words: The winning contribution has won the contest because the number of people who thought it wasn't the best was larger than for the other submission. That's one o... In other words: The winning contribution has won the contest because the number of people who thought it wasn't the best was larger than for the other submission. That's one of the reasons I didn't participate again (one other reason being that I wouldn't have produced anything half-decent). Anyway: Congratulations to the winners!
