See more Hi everybody, I hope it was right to start a new thread, if not please change it accordingly. I got a translation order, but luckily got suspicious and checked the address and phone number, it appeared already in several threads, only with a different name. In my case, it was a Regina Dempsey with this email: [email protected] Wanting to translate a document called "Human & Nature", asking for a proforma invoice, then getting back to me wanting to pay by check and sending me this address: Full Name: Patricia Smith Address: 12, White hart lane City: Avon State: CO Zip: 81620 Phone: (571) 302-4340 The mail content was exactly how other previous users posted before: Hello Kim, Your price seems relatively low compared to other translators and I really appreciate that. The delivery date is okay but in return I want a perfect and accurate translation 50% of the payment will be sent upfront so you can proceed with the translation as soon as your receive the payment and the balance upon completion of the project. However, my preferred mode of payment is a check and all that is needed is Your full name and address as it should appear on the check and your home address. Here is my personal information for your perusal Full Name: Patricia Smith Address: 12, White hart lane City: Avon State: CO Zip: 81620 Phone: (571) 302-4340 Thank you ______________________________________________________ Please be careful. I was excited to get my first orders, but then realised it's a scam (luckily). Do I have to report somewhere else? How do you answer to those mails then? ▲ Collapse | | | I got the same mail | Apr 11, 2019 |
Hi Kim, Thank you for that information. I got exactly the same mail and was also not sure about how to handle it. How did you know that it is a scam? Thanks, Michaela | | | Kim Kopec Germany Spanish to German + ... TOPIC STARTER Scam threads mentioning same name and address | Apr 11, 2019 |
Hi Michaela, Because the address as well as the name (Patricia Smith) had been mentioned in several scam threads here before and I found it also a bit odd that the name of the author of the mail was different than the one mentioned in the address. Best regards, Kim | | | Same scam, different name | Apr 15, 2019 |
