Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has tried out Lionbridge's Workspace/GeoWorkz?

Do you get access to a Lionbridge TM library by subscribing to Workspace?

What's the GeoWorkz market like? Any use?

Thanks.

Feel free to contact me by email directly.

no, you don't get access to TMs owned by Lionbridge, you need an alias for that, issued by LB when you have to work on a job in TW (e.g. I work a lot for LB and received this token/alias today: This is an automatic, system-generated message. Please do not reply directly to this message.

With this token you can generate an aliased TM inside your own Translation Workspace tenancy, and use this asset in future translation projects with the tenancy that sent you this alias.

I think it is only useful when LB is a client of yours. contact me offline for more info

spammy? Apr 25, 2013

Isn't this the thing that spams you unmercifully once you've signed up and refuses to say "stop charging my credit card" for an answer? (If so, there are other threads about it; I'm on a deadline and can't spare the time to find them!)

Aren't they the company that gives you a month-long free trial, and when you forget to cancel your trial membership, they convert it to a paid membership that you can only cancel after three months?

I have no idea. Where did you hear about Lionbridge TM libraries? I don't see anything about it on their web site...

Well, I think the best way to tell is to subscribe to their RSS feed of latest jobs, for a while, to see how many jobs in your language pairs come up. You can subscribe to the RSS feed here:

http://geoworkz.com/MarketPlaceFeedSelection.aspx

If you don't do RSS but you don't mind receiving the RSS posts via e-mail, use you can an RSS2mail service like this one:

http://blogtrottr.com/

Try it for a month or so, to see how many jobs there really are.

I didn't understand a thing about what they say regarding their "plan" that you have to pay *them* for a certain number of words??!!

I took a look at the jobs advertised just now and saw mostly just jobs from EN to some other language.

Apparently.

Doesn't look very interesting.

Try it for a month or so to see how many jobs are actually assigned to you... and then see if you can pay the fee from those.

I think that that is just the thing -- if you subscribe to their service for a "trial" of 1 month, it ends up being 3 months that you have to pay for, regardless of whether you got any jobs. Subscribing to their RSS feed is free even if you don't subscribe to their other services, so it is completely safe.
