I'm looking at the Heidrick and Struggles 2019 PE compensation report. The carry dollars at work definition (directly from the report) is as follows: Carried interest is calculated using "carry dollars at work"-the expected return on total carry participation across all vehicles, based on achieving a net 2x return (above hurdle and after fees) in a vehicle charging a 20% performance fee -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2 hrs (2021-01-27 16:57:36 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- commissione di performance (chiamata tecnicamente carried interest) in funzione dei Capital gain per gli investitori generati dal fondo. Tradizionalmente il Carried Interest è del 20% ma ce ne sono stati di più alti e più bassi. Il Carried Interest si calcola "cash on cash" ovvero viene pagato solo se gli investitori hanno ricevuto per intero il capitale versato nel periodo di investimento nella vita del fondo e non operazione per operazione. Il carried interest viene calcolato sulla quota di rendimento che supera quello minimo garantito dalla sgr chiamato "hurdle rate". Se l'hurdle rate non viene raggiunto non ci sarà carried interest per la sgr.
