I translated excerpts of works by Tanizaki Jun'ichiro, Ohba Minako, Ariyoshi Sawako, and Kawabata Yasunari during my MSc in Literary Translation as Creative Practice (passed with Distinction). I have translated a 20-page manga (comedy/romance) and 18-page web comic (mystery/political). I am editing a mystery/supernatural short story for publication by Kurodahan Press this year. I am particularly interested in translating women writers, fantasy/sci-fi, creative non-fiction, and manga.

With a B.A. in French Language and Culture; and more than 6 years of experience as a translator, I have a great grasp not only of the French, Italian and English languages, but also lived experience in France and Italy that allows me to grasp cultural subtleties and convey them into Japanese.

My first published co-translation, of the Italian children's book Che bello!, won the Itabashi International Translation Contest; and I hope to continue working on children's literature.

I have translated three light detective novels that are still in the pre-publishing phase and am beginning a children's book. Until the books are published I am not able to publicly share the titles, but I'd be happy to discuss them and provide samples privately.

My academic training is in classical Japanese literature, and I've translated a number of medieval tales for scholarly publication. I also have training working with premodern poetry forms, handwritten documents, and illustrated manuscripts.

Most of my paid work is with modern literature, however, currently working on a series of young adult vampire novels for the publisher Vertical Inc. My literary interests tend towards science fiction, feminist literature, and the work of social outsiders.
