Position Interpreter/Translator – The Forests for improvement of livelihoods in the Central Highlands – A project between Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and Asian Development Bank
The Project’s long-term objective is to improve forest productivity and livelihoods and reduce poverty in the Central Highlands provinces of Dak Lak, Dak Nong, Lam Dong, Gia Lai, Kontum, and Phu Yen. Kicked off since the 1st of June 2007, all the project activities are in their innitial stage and the personnel structure organization are being consolidated.
Main duties

▪ Provide consecutive interpreting service to the donor, project staff and relating counterparts at all levels (district, provincial, national) in kick-off workshop, field trips, discussion meetings between donor and the Vietnamese side in a professional manner.
▪ Provide translation service to the donor, project staff and relating counterparts at all levels (district, provincial, national) in project documents, meeting/workshop presentations and any correspondence. Accompany donor’s consultants in field trip. Be perfect and influence on technical translation, especially in forestry sector;
▪ Coordinate cooperation with other projects and institutions; provide interpreting and translation assistance to other projects in the forestry sector under the command of boss director.
▪ Provide assistance for organization of project events, including workshops, seminars and meetings.
▪ Remain in a range of services even in urgent and special case.

August 2003 – August 2007
Position Interpreter/Translator – Sinclair Knight Merz, Ltd. (SKM)

for “the Coastal Wetlands Protection and Development Project” – a project between Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and World Bank, co financed by World Bank and Danish International Development Agency

Description The project which was carried out since 2000 in the Southern Mekong Delta provinces of Ca Mau, Bac Lieu, Soc Trang and Tra Vinh , was to reestablish the coastal mangrove wetland ecosystems and protect sustainably their aquatic nurturing and coastal protection functions.
There were 4 Provincial Project Management Units established in the 4 provinces and one Hanoi-based Central Project Office. Their functions were to provide guidance for implementation of the project activities at central and grassroots levels and to coordinate the information flow among the project provinces and the central leadership. To these ends, a consulting company (SKM) was recruited to provide technical assistance for the project. SKM was established its offices with international and local consultants in all the project units.
Main duties
▪ Based in SKM’s Hanoi office, be responsible for language conversion of all correspondence among the project management units and between the Central Project Office and the donor
▪ Provide consecutive interpreting service to the donors, project staff and relating counterparts at all levels (district, provincial, national) in workshops, field trips, discussion meetings between donors and the Vietnamese side in a professional manner. punctual and discreet.
▪ Translate technical guidelines, progress reports and any other project documents and sub-documents into English and vice versa.
▪ Support Project secretary and other staff in other office duties.
▪ Other than project’s work, provide interpretation and translation support for SKM in order to get many new contracts in future projects in forestry sector.

Position Interpreter/Translator – Nippon Koei Consulting Engineers Company, Ltd.

For the project “Nationwide Water resources development and management in the 14 major river basins in Vietnam” – financed by The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)

Description As a feasibility study, this project was divided into three phases with the first phase to study the feasibility of the design of Ta Trach Dam on Huong river (Hue province) and the second phase was to investigate the dam site of Dinh Binh Dam in Kon river of Binh Dinh province and the last phase was to research in-office all the documents nationally available for all the 14 main river basins in Vietnam.
Being a Japanese company, nevertheless, the working languages was English and Vietnamese.
Main duties ▪ Translate documents, reports, correspondences of the Project or related office papers.

▪ Interpret in meetings between counterparts (mostly were staff in the Water Resources Planning Institute) and the consultants

▪ Accompany consultants during field trips, contact and arrange meetings and all logistics.

▪ Assist project accountant and administrator in organization of workshops, meetings,

Main duties ▪ Deal with work in some projects on HIV/AIDS and Community Development in the Northern provinces of Phu Tho and Yen Bai;
