«Er det dine barn, alle disse?», spurte mannen som hadde et
ærende i huset.
«Nei», sa husmoren, «ikke alle. De tre der er mine, men den
fjerde er bare kamerat til barna».
Kamerat til barna? Det vekker tanker. Kameraten til barna
har ingen arverett. Ingen rettigheter i det hele tatt.
Vel får kanskje kameraten et stykke brød med barna i huset,
men han har ikke noe krav på det.
Kamerat til barna? Undres på om ikke de fem dårlige jomfruene
var det? De gikk sammen med barna, som om de hørte
til i huset. Men de ble utelukket da det knep. Judas var nok
også kamerat til barna, han fikk en bit sammen med de 11, men
hadde et sted for seg selv, og dit gikk han. Han fikk ikke del i
arven sammen med de andre.
En mann som nevnes i åpenbaringsboken, hadde navn av å
leve, men var død. Han var bare kamerat til barna og lekte
sammen med dem. Når kvelden kommer må kameraten gå
hjem. Husmoren ber ham da å gå. Jesus vil også en gang be noen
å gå bort, blant disse blir kameraten til barna. Mange, mange
kirkegjengere er også bare kamerater til barna, noen nattverds-
gjester likeså. De deler brød med barna, men ikke åndssamfunn.
De kommer ikke til å dele det evige hjem med barna.
Hagars sønn var i samme hjemmet som Isak, Saras sønn. De
lekte kanskje og åt sammen, men han fikk ikke arve sammen
med løftets barn, fordi han var født etter kjødet. Trellen kan
være kamerat med barna, men har ingen arverett.
De er kamerater til barna, alle hyklerne i menigheten. Når
kvelden kommer, skilles de, om ikke før...
De er bare kamerater til barna, alle de uomvendte medlemmene
i sangkor og musikklag. De blir ikke med i himmelens
lovsangskor, fordi om de har lekt sammen med barna her.
Det er mange kamerater i ungdomsforeninger og juniorforeninger.
Og det verste er at meget av tilstelningene ikke kan føde
barn, men bare produserer kamerater.
Er du barn? Eller bare kamerat?
Skriften sier «Driv ut trellkvinnen og hennes sønn!». «Trellen
blir ikke i huset til evig tid. Sønnen blir der evindelig!».

“Are all these your bairns?”, asked the man whom had an appointment at the house.
“No,” said the housewife. “Not all. These three are mine, but the fourth is merely a friend of the bairns.”
“Friend of the Bairns?” This makes me ponder. Since the friend of the bairns cannot claim the inheritance. No claim whatsoever.
He might get a piece of bread with the bairns of the house, but can't demand it.
“Friend of the Bairns?” Wonder if the five unwise virgins where as much. They went along with the bairns, as if they belonged in the house. They were, however, shut out, as they lacked oil. Judas was probably a friend of the bairns as well, he was given a bite together with the eleven others, but had a place to himself, and remained there. He didn’t get a part of the inheritance with the rest.
A man mentioned in Revelation had a name of life, yet he was dead. He was merely a friend of the bairns and played together with them.
When night falls, the friend must go home.
The mother will then ask him to leave.
Once Jesus too, will ask some to leave. Among these will be the friend of the bairns.
Many, yea many of those who go to church remain friends of the bairns, some of them even take part in communion. They share bread with the bairns, but not fellowship in the Spirit. They will not share the eternal home with the bairns.
Hagar’s son lived in the same house as Isaac, the son of Sara. Maybe they played and ate together, but he wasn’t allowed to inherit together with the bairn of promise, because he was born according to the flesh. The slave can be a friend of the bairns, but can’t lay claim to the inheritance.
They’re friends of the bairns all the hypocrites in the congregation. When night falls, they will part – if not before…
They are friends of the bairns all the un-penitent members of choirs and worship-teams. They won’t be a part of the worship-team in the heavens, just because they’ve played together with the bairns down here…
There are many friends in youth groups and junior-gatherings. And the worst of it all is that many of the arrangements cannot birth bairns, merely produce friends.
Are you a bairn? Or are you merely a friend?
The Scriptures say: “Send away the slavewoman and her son” and “The slave shall not remain living in the house for ever, but the Son will.”

An Unexpected Party
In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a hobbit-hole, and that means comfort.
It had a perfectly round door like a porthole, painted green, with a shiny yellow brass knob in the exact middle. The door opened on to a tube-shaped hall like a tunnel: a very comfortable tunnel without smoke, with panelled walls, and floors tiled and carpeted, provided with polished chairs, and lots and lots of pegs for hats and coats - the hobbit was fond of visitors. The tunnel wound on and on, going fairly but not quite straight into the side of the hill - The Hill, as all the people for many miles round called it - and many little round doors opened out of it, first on one side and then on another. No going upstairs for the hobbit: bedrooms, bathrooms, cellars, pantries (lots of these), wardrobes (he had whole rooms devoted to clothes), kitchens, dining-rooms, all were on the same floor, and indeed on the same passage. The best rooms were all on the left-hand side (going in), for these were the only ones to have windows, deep-set round windows looking over his garden and meadows beyond, sloping down to the river.

I eit hôl i bakken budde det ein hobbit. Det var ikkì eit ekkelt, skite, vått hôl med makk og kvalmande dunster. Det var heller ikkì eit turrt, nake sandut hôl utan noko å sitja ned på eller og eta: Det var eit hobbit-hôl - og det tyder hyggje.
Døri var fullkome rund, nett som eit koauga, grønmåla, med skinande gul messinghank midt på. Døri opna inn mot ein røyrforma gong med panelklædde veggar og fliselagd og teppeklædd golv. Der var det polerte stolar og mange, mange knaggar for hattar og kåpor - for hobbiten var glad for gjester. Gongen gjekk langt inn i haugen, ikkì heilt rett fram, men ikkì so mykje på skrå heller. I Haugen, som folk i mange mils omkrins kalla han, var det mange andre dørar som opna seg ut mot gongen, fyrst på den eine sida, og dinest på hi. Men det var ikkì naudsynt for hobbiten å gå upp i andre høgdi: Soverom, baderom, kott, spiskammars (mange av dei), garderobar (han hadde heile rom som var fylde av klede), kjøken, rom til å eta i - alt låg i same høgdi - og langs same gongen. Dei beste roma låg alle på vinstre sida (på veg inn), for desse var dei einaste roma som hadde gluggar, djupt sette runde gluggar, som vende ut mot hagen og vangarne nedanfyre og lida ned mot Åi.

Note: it is not fair to call the original "Bokmal", as the author, Arnulf Øverland was fairly outspoken against this version of Norwegian language, which he considered a bastard. His Norwegian was "Riksmal", a somewhat more archaic than "Bokmal".
