Source text - English الانشغال عن القيادة قد يتخذ أشكال عدة منها ضبط المذياع أو مشغل الأقراص المدمجة CD أو التدخين أو تعديل المظهر أو استخدام أجهزة تحديد المواقع GPS أو التحدث/ البحث/ تبادل الرسائل القصيرة خلال الهاتف النقال أو الأكل والشرب أو الانشغال مع أطفال كثيري الضجيج.
إن هناك أمراً مشتركاً بين كل هذه الأشياء ألا وهي أنها تصرف انتباهنا عن مهمتنا الأساسية وهي القيادة بأمان.
مسببات الانشغال التي تصادفنا أثناء القيادة تقع ضمن ثلاث فئات:
بصرية- وهي ما نراه أو ننظر إليه.
يدوية - وهي ما تفعله أيدينا أو أرجلنا.
إدراكية - وهي ما نفكر فيه.
العديد من مسببات الانشغال التي تم ذكرها سابقاً تنقسم إلى قسمين أو ثلاثة من هذه الفئات مما يجعلها أكثر خطورة. فبعضها خارج عن سيطرتنا، لذلك علينا الحرص على الحصول على المساعدة من جميع الركاب الذين برفقتنا حتى نتمتع برحلة آمنة. فكلما انشغلنا عن القيادة كلما زادت احتمالية وقوع الحوادث وكذلك زادت حدتها.
أظهرت إحدى الدراسات التي أجرتها الوكالة الأمريكية لسلامة المرورعلى الطرق السريعة أن نسبة 80% من حوادث الاصطدام و 65% من الحوادث وشيكة الوقوع كانت بسبب انشغال السائق خلال الثلاث ثواني التي سبقت وقوع الحادث. .
في عام 2011 كانت هناك أكثر من 3300 حالة وفاة في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية بسبب الانشغال أثناء القيادة وذلك حسب الإحصائيات التي أجرتها الوكالة الأمريكية لسلامة المرور على الطرق السريعة (NHTSA) . ففي الولايات المتحدة وكما هو الحال في غيرها من الأماكن في جميع أنحاء العالم فإن عدد الوفيات الناجمة عن الانشغال عن القيادة في تزايد مستمر عاماً بعد عام.
لقد أصبحت الهواتف النقالة منتشرة في جميع أنحاء الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية والعالم. إضافة إلى ذلك فإنه على مدى العشر سنوات الماضية أصبح كل هاتف نقال مزوداً بخاصية استخدام الرسائل النصية القصيرة مما جعل عدد هذه الرسائل على وجه الخصوص في تزايد مضطرد.

في إحدى الدراسات الأمريكية التي استخدمت فيها كاميرات الفيديو لمراقبة سلوك السائقين وجد أن 81% من جميع الحوادث تضمنت نوعاً من مسببات انشغال السائق.
Translation - Arabic Distraction while we are driving can take many forms: adjusting the radio/CD player, smoking, grooming, using a GPS, talking/searching/texting on a mobile phone, eating and drinking, and dealing with noisy children.One common element among these things is that they take our attention away from our primary task of driving safely.
The distraction we experience while driving fall into three categories:
Visual _ what we see or are looking at.
Manual _ What our hands and feet are doing.
Cognitive_ what we are thinking about.
Many of the previously mentioned in car distraction fall into two or three of these categories, making them even more dangerous. Some of them are out of our control, so we must be sure to enlist the help of all of our passengers to have safe trips. When we are distracted, accidents can and do happen much more frequently, and are much more serious as well.
A study by the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) found that "80% of crashes and 65% of near-crashes involve some form of distraction occurring within 3 seconds before the vehicle crash. "
In 2011, there were more than 3,300 road fatalities in the US due to distracted driving, according to latest NHTSA statistics. In the US, as with other places throughout the
world, the number of deaths due to distraction is increasing every year.
Throughout the United States and worldwide, mobile phones have become ubiquitous. In addition, for the past 10 years, every new mobile phone sold is equipped with texting capabilities. The number of text messages especially seems to be increasing exponentially.
Many drivers do not understand that searching and texting on mobile phone is even more dangerous than simply talking on them. The reason is simple: searching and texting require your eyes, one or both of your hands and your brain -- all three distraction categories: visual, manual and cognitive.
According to an Australian study, while texting, drivers spend about 400% more time taking their eyes off the road and are 70% less like to stray in the lane.
