Spanish to English: Introduction to Meteorology General field: Science Detailed field: Meteorology
Translation - English We can all be a bit of a meteorologist. It is enough to observe some of the phenomenons that occur around us to be able to know by intuition what the weather is going to be like during the next couple of hours. Did you know that you can calculate the air temperature by simply counting the chirps that a cricket emits or that the tip of the rice of your paella depends, among other things, on the atmospheric pressure?
Although it may not seem like it, meteorology is one of the most complex sciences that exist, and possibly the one that most influences the day to day life of the human being. In Spain and other countries of the world we are many people who daily depend on the weather. On one hand, those who live in the city, because of lack of free time, have to plan thoroughly their open air activities. On the other hand, the people who live directly by the land or sea depend on the weather to subsist. In every corner of the planet, the weather is a daily theme of conversation, be it because tomorrow it may be advisable to take an umbrella or raincoat in hand, or because the sun is going to be so strong that its is recommended to apply a sunscreen of SPF 15.
