I am a native English speaker and trained Freelance Translator (French-English). I received a degree in French Language and Literature and Psychological Studies in 2007, a Masters in Advanced Language Skills (French) in 2008 and in 2015 I was awarded a PhD for my doctoral dissertation in French Literature. Having worked as a freelance translator before beginning the PhD, and part-time during the duration of research, I returned to work in this area full-time in early 2015. My MA degree (awarded in 2008) focused on working as a professional translator, with comprehensive training in translation methodologies and theory, as well as the use of CAT tools. As such, I have a great deal of experience in translating a wide range of material, from informal literature to difficult technical material. I am deadline oriented, with a proven capacity for large-project management.
My primary area of expertise lies in the translation of medical and pharmaceutical texts but I also have significant experience in the academic, marketing and PR, and agricultural fields. Work I have carried out in the medical field includes translation of marketing and promotional material for medical device companies and clinics; medical reports, particularly for pharmaceutical companies; informed consent forms, and medical history questionnaires, for patients participating in clinical trials.
