You may experience none or some of these effects and they may be mild, moderate or severe. Many of the side effects disappear after treatment is stopped. Your doctor may prescribe medications to ease the discomfort you may have if any of these events occur and he may interrupt or discontinue your use of sorafenib/placebo. Your doctor will be checking you closely to see if any of these side effects are occurring.
As explained above, blood samples will be taken during your clinic visits. The risk of blood drawing includes discomfort at the site of the blood draw with bruising, bleeding, infection, and, rarely, fainting and nerve damage. As part of this study, you will be exposed to radiation from x-rays and/or CT scans. The amount of radiation you receive from these diagnostic tests is considered minimal, and will not adversely affect the treatment of your disease. The risk of intravenous contrast agents during CT scans or MRIs include allergic reactions that range from mild to life-threatening in susceptible individuals, particularly those with prior allergies to iodine. If you know that you are allergic to iodine, please advise your doctor and radiologist.
