Source text - Chinese 阳元石游览区与长老峰游览区隔江相望，因有天下第一奇石阳元石而得名。该区以地质遗迹和生态环境保存完好以及发育最典型的丹霞石墙、石柱和石拱地貌为特色，主要景点有阳元石、九九天梯、双乳石、睡美人，古寺混元洞，七座天生桥，三处古山寨及众多拟人拟物、拟兽拟禽的山石造型以及6座古石窟寺遗迹和十几座古山寨等。细美寨建于明代，寨门扼悬崖道之口，险若华山。通泰桥为最大的天生拱桥，内拱跨度为38米，拱高15米。
阳元石 民间称为祖石、求子石、卵头石。当你走在褐色和红色的石板路上，猛地一抬头就看见那根巨大高耸醒目逼真 “引无数英雄竞折腰”的阳具巨石，带着一股令人眩目的阳刚之气，从碧绿的大地上直指空中。活脱脱一根形神兼备的男性之根立即摄住你的心魄，它拔地而起，一柱冲天。在那里，你既可以摄影，又能亲眼目睹观赏男性的生殖器，不管你把它说成是丑陋还是自豪，是祸害还是神明，是男性获得满足与幸福的源泉，还是制造苦恼的祸根，人类一直煞费苦心地解读它，直到今天，依然如故。眼前这根神奇的大石柱，之所以被称为阳元石，是取它的阳刚之阳、元气之元，也就是阳刚之气。所谓元，实际指的是头，无论人还是其它动物，没有了头，那什么也没有了。在这大千世界，头是第一的。
这根高28米，直径7米的神奇无比的石柱。在丹霞地貌中属石柱类型。是由于风化作用，30万年以前从石墙上分离出来的。但是，它太奇、太绝、太逼真了。其形状不论是头部、中部和下部，与勃起的男性生殖器都十分形似，从色泽、血管、形状、轮廓、比例形神兼备，就是一根男性活脱脱的男性之根。它让所有的男人看后倍感惭愧，女的看后倍感心跳和害羞。有诗赞曰“百川会处擎天柱，万劫无移大地根”。它的绝妙、雄奇与逼真，让我们的思维产生了恍惚：分不清是人类塑造了大自然，还是大自然烘托出了人类。想想庄子“若非自然，谁能生我？若无有我，谁禀自然乎！”这番话，似乎也就明白了。
玉女拦江（也称地母岭、睡美人） 座落在阳元山西北面。沿着锦江流水方向远眺，映入眼帘的是一条由数个山峰组成的美丽曲线，宛若一位横卧着披散着长发的少女——她枕着江流，鼻梁俊俏，酥臂轻柔，玉腿舒展，下颔、胸和腹等部位所勾勒出的曲线美惟妙惟肖，甚至于颈部间的翡翠玉坠也能看见，令人叫绝。
文星石 又名“文峰山”、“将军寨”。文星石上，旧有文峰书院，名遐粤北。相传北宋年间，余靖曾在此书院就读，其后名列科第，官至宰相。公元1043年，余靖奉命平定北方契丹族的外侵，契丹大败。民间传其人文武双才，上马为将下为官，故亦把其就读之地文星石称为 “将军寨”。文峰书院最鼎盛时有一间书厅，七间起居室和一座桃李园[2]。还在起居室顶上石壁另辟有文昌帝祠，早晚供奉，祈求金榜题名，登科及第。
在阳元山游览区拜地母岭可生育，拜阳元石可生儿子，拜文星石则可获取功名利禄，诸君不妨一试。
Translation - English Yangyuan Mountain Scenic Area, which is named after its most peculiar Yangyuan stone(Male Stone), faces the Zhanglao Peak (Elderly Peak) Scenic Area that is located on the other side of the river. It features the well-preserved geological heritage and ecological environment, as well as the typical Danxia landforms of stonewalls, stone pillars and stone arches. Its main scenic spots include Yangyuan Stone (Male Stone), Nighty-nine Steps Ladder, Shuangru Stone (Breasts Stone), Sleeping Beauty Mountain, Old Temple with Embracive Hole, seven natural bridges, three typical old mountain strongholds and numerous rocks that resemble human beings and animals, as well as the remains of six ancient cave temples and dozens of old fortified mountain villages. Among them, Ximei Village was built in Ming Dynasty (1368—1644), with its entrance guarding the path of the cliff, which is no less risky than Mount Hua[1]. Tongtai Bridge is the biggest natural bridge with its 15-metre high inner arch spanning 38 metres.
Yangyuan Stone (Male Stone) is also called “Zu Stone” (Father Stone), “Qiuzi Stone” (Fertility Stone), and “Luantou Stone” (Phallus Stone). Strolling along the brownish and reddish stone path, you will be amazed by a huge towering stone pillar with striking verisimilitude to phallus that jumps into your sight. Pointing to the sky, it makes countless heroes bow in homage to its dazzling yang qi (masculinity). You would be impressed by its unity of form and spirit that resembles male sexual organ. It rises straight from the ground, soaring to the sky. There, not only could you take photos, but also have a closer look at it. You may consider it ungraceful or glorious, disastrous or divine. It can be the source of satisfaction and happiness for men, or it can also be the Apple of Discord. Despite the disputes, people have been racking their brains to interpret this stone for years up till today. The name Yangyuan Stone (Male Stone) comes from Yang (masculinity) and yuan (vitality), meaning yang qi (masculinity). Actually, yuan refers to head, namely the priority in the boundless universe, without which human beings and other animals cannot exist.
This marvelous stone is 28 metres high with diametre of 7 metres. It is one of the stone pillars of Danxia landforms. Due to weathering, it was separated from stonewalls 300,000 years ago. But it is so unusual and matchless. The shape of different parts, no matter the upper, the middle or the bottom, is astonishingly similar in appearance of an erectile virilia. Besides, the color, the lines of the blood vessel, the contour and the proportion resemble the phallus to a great extent. While making all men feel ashamed, this stone accelerates the heart beat of all women who are shy. A poem goes: “The Pilar stands at the intersection of all the rivers, just like a man embracing all the differences. The Root never moves despite all the disasters, which symolizes the unswerving faith of a man.” The exquisiteness, magnificence and verisimilitude of this stone put us into a trance, failing to distinguish whether the nature was shaped by humans, or the humans were highlighted by nature. Zhuangzi (known as “Master Zhuang”, a famous Chinese philosophor in 4 century BC) once said: “Were it not for the principles of nature, who would give me life? Were it not for me, who would take hold of the principles of nature?” These words seem to be the answer.
Yu Nv Lan Jiang (Beautiful Lady Holding Back the River) is also called “Dimu Mountain” (Mother-of-the-Earth Mountain) and “Sleeping Beauty”. It is situated in the northwest of Yangyuan Mountain. Looking far into the direction of Jin River, you will see an elegant curve made up from several mountain peaks. It looks like a young lady lying across the river with her long hair streaming down. The river is her pillow. The contour of her bridge of the nose, delicate arms, stretched legs, jaw, breast and waist is depicted clearly. You may even notice the jade pendant on her neck, which is remarkably true to life.
Wenxing Stone (Star-of-wisdom Stone) is also called “Wenfeng Mountain” (Mountain of wisdom), “Jiangju Zhai” (Village of generals). Above this stone, there used to be the Wenfeng Academy (Academy of Wisdome), which was famous in the north area of Guangdong Province. According to legend, in Earlier Song Dynasty (960-1127), Yu Jing (1000～1064) used to study in this academy before getting a distinction in the imperial examination and becoming the chancellor. In 1043AD, he received the order to fight against the invaders from Qidan [Khitan], an ancient nationality in China. The latter suffered a crushing defeat. According to folktale, Yu Jing was adept with both the pen and the sword. Therefore, Wenxing Stone (Star-of-wisdom Stone) where he studied is also called “Jiangju Village” (Village of the general). In the heyday of Wenfeng Academy (Academy of Wisdome), there was a hall of books, seven sitting rooms and a “Tao Li” garden (Peaches and plum trees, meaning the students). Apart from these, Wenchang Emporer(God of Wisdom) Temple was built on the stone wall above the sitting rooms. People used to pray in the temple in the mornings and evenings in the hope to succeed in the imperial government examination.
Legend has it that if you worship the Dimu Mountain (Mother-of-the-Earth Mountain), you will be given a child; if you worship the Yangyuan Stone (Male Stone), you will be given a son; if you worship the Wenxing Stone (Star-of-wisdom Stone), you will obtain high official positions and wealth.
