Source text - English "وُلِدتُ فاقدًا لحاسة السمع، وفقدتُ أبي أيضًا في الثالثة. أخذتْ أمي ترعاني، كانتُ تريدني أن أكون بطلًا، أو أفضل شخصٍ في العالم، فربتني على أن أواجه الصِعاب، ولما التحقتُ بالمدرسة كنتُ أرجع إلى البيت منها باكيًا لأن زملائي دائمًا ما كانوا يضربونني ويشتمونني بلا سبب. أستحضرُ تلك المرات التي حضنتني فيها أمي وأخذت تمسح دمعي بالقول:"ما في حدا أحسن منك، وفي الله بيحاسب..". لم أتحمل تلك السخرية والعذاب اليومي فامتنعتُ في العاشرة عن الذهاب للمدرسة. بحثت أمي عن أماكنٍ لرعاية الصم لكنها لم تجد، وبعد أن عجزت أمي أن تجد مكانًا يحتويني، وجدتْ مكانًا أعمل فيه مساعدًا لنجار، أذكر جيدًا أولى أيامي التي ذهبتُ فيها إلى تلك المنجرة، كان الأطفال يلاحقونني في الطريق، يلقون الحجارة عليَّ ويشتمونني حتى أني ذهبتُ إلى أمي وأخبرتها أنه لا يمكن لي أن أذهب إلى المنجرة مرةً أخرى. تمنيتُ في ذلك الوقت أن أفتح منجرةً صغيرةً، فاستطعتُ أن أقنع أمي التي كانت تخشى أن أفشل، وافتتحتُ المنجرة. مرت الأيام حتى تعرفتُ إلى مؤسسةٍ للأطفال الصم أصبحتُ فيها مسؤولًا عن قسم النجارة، وقد عملنا طويلًا لننتج مئات القطع الخشبية التي وصلت إلى العالم، سافرتُ إلى عدة دولًا لأمثل الأشخاص الصم وأتحدث عن أحلامهم ومخاوفهم، ليتني أستطيع الأن أن أصف شعوري لك حرفًا بحرفٍ، لكن يكفي أني فعلتُ ما لم يفعله أولئك الزملاء غير الصم الذين سخروا مني أيامًا طِوال وجعلوني ألعوبةً يقذفونني بالحجارة ويسبونني بلا سبب."
Translation - English " I was born deaf. My dad passed away when I was only three, so mom looked after me; she wanted me to be a hero or maybe the best person in the world. Therefore, she brought me up to face challenges. I used to get back from school crying because my classmates were bullying me all the time. I still picture those moments when mom was hugging me, wiping my tears and saying:" No one is better than you and God is there to judge ".I could not handle that derision and daily torture, so I left the school at the age of ten. Therefore, mom was looking for places where deaf like me could be looked after. Unfortunately, she found none. There were no places to go to, but a carpentry shop where I could work as an assistant. My first days there, still stuck in my memory; some boys were chasing me down the street throwing me with stones and insulting me, so I told mom that I could no longer go there."
"That time I was looking forward to setting up my own small carpentry. And yes, I managed to convince mom; she was afraid of my failure. Days passed and I got to know an institution for deaf children which I later become responsible for the carpentry section in. We have worked together for a long time producing hundreds of products of wood that were exported around the world. I also have been to a lot of countries where I was a representative of deaf people talking about their hopes and fears."
" I wish I could have the ability to express my feeling right now in words. You know, at least I have achieved what some none deaf people, who always insulted and made fun of me with no reason, don’t do."

Source text - English "تُسحرني فكرة أن أسهّل على الناس حياتهم، أو أن أضيف شيئًا جديدًا يجعل منها أفضل، ولأجل ذلك تعلمتُ البرمجة، وذهبتُ منذ فترةٍ قصيرةٍ أهتمُ بريادة الأعمال حبًا في أن يكون لي مشروعٌ خاص، فعملتُ على تطبيق يُعطي للمقبلين على الزواج في غزّة فرصةً للتخطيط واختيار ما يناسبهم من أماكن ومتعلقات، وأعمل حاليًا على تطوير هذا التطبيق باستمرار."
"أثناء دراستي الجامعية، زرتُ مركزًا يهتمُ بالأطفال ممن يحملون متلازمة داون، وقد تعلقتُ بهم وبالأطفال الصم كثيرًا للحد الذي تمنيتُ لو أخصص لهم أكثر من وقتي هذا، فتعلمتُ لغة الإشارة. ومع تعلمي للبرمجة مؤخرًا، أطمح مستقبلًا لتطبيقٍ يسهل على المجتمع فهم حاجاتهم، والتعامل معهم بشكلٍ أفضل مما أرى."

Translation - English " I'm fascinated by the idea of making people's lives easier or doing something new that makes their lives better. That's why I learned programming. A short time ago, I got interested in entrepreneurship looking forward to having my own project; I worked on an application that gives couples who are about to get married in Gaza an opportunity to plan and choose their favorite places and belongings. I am currently developing that application continuously."
"When I was at university, I visited a center for children with Down syndrome. I really invested so much in them especially deaf ones. I even wished if I had had much more time to spend with them, so I learned sign-language. I am also looking forward to designing an application which makes it easier for letting people understand their needs and dealing with them in a better way."
" It's been 18 years since my family and I came here. I have neither an ID card nor a passport, so I am not allowed to leave Gaza Strip to travel around that world that I just surf about online. I'm all hope to find a solution as soon as possible."

هذا هو الاسم الذي أطلقه مجموعة من الشباب على مبادرتهم, والتي كانت تعبيراً عن تعاطفهم مع زميلهم الضرير الذي كان يعاني من مشكلة الحصول على الكتب التي تسد حاجته. ففكر هؤلاء الشباب كيف يمكن أن يساعدوا زميلهم ومن يعانون من نفس المشكلة من خلال توفير الكتب لهم. اجتمع الفريق أكثر من مرة ومن خلال جلسات العصف الذهني والتفكير الجماعي, درسوا الموضوع وطرحوا عدداً كبيراً من الأسئلة مثل كيف سنختار الكتب؟ ومن سيحدد هذه الكتب ؟ وكيف سنوفرها لهم ؟ هل توفرها بطريقة سهله ؟ وكم ستكلف ؟ وهل نحن قادرين على فعل ذلك ؟ .اتفقوا على جلسة أخرى بشرط أن يكون لدى كل شخص تصور مبدئي ومحاولة للإجابة على الأسئلة , وفي الجلسة التي تلي وبعد مناقشة جميع الأفكار والبدائل تم الاتفاق على الفكرة الأساسية وهي تحويل مجموعة من الكتب المختارة إلى كتب مسموعة , وذلك بمساعدة زملاء مختصين والتواصل مع أصحاب هذه المشكلة والاستماع منهم عن معاناتهم وعن أهم النواقص من ناحية الكتب, وتم التشاور مع زملاء اخرين لهم حول أسهل الطرق لتحويل الكتب الى مادة سمعية وما هي مواصفات القارئ من حيث الصوت والأداء وكيف سيتم تنزيل الكتب على البرامج الخاصة مواقع الانترنت وفي نهاية الأمر تم تحويل هذه الكتب المقروءة إلى مسموعة وحل مشكلة زميلهم.
Translation - English "Gleam" initiative:
This is the name that launched by a group of youth to call their initiative, which was an expression of sympathy with their blind mate who had suffered from the inability to provide the necessary books that fit his case as a blind student. These innovative young people thought about how they could help their fellow and those with the same problem by providing them the books they need. The team met more than once, and through brainstorming sessions and collective thinking, they studied the topic and asked a big number of questions, such as; how will we select the appropriate books? who will identify the chosen books? And how will we provide the books to them? Is it easy to afford the books? How much will they cost? And finally, are we able to afford them?. The team has agreed on holding another session, provided that each member has a preliminary perception and answers to the questions. On the following session, and after discussing all ideas and alternatives, they agreed upon the basic idea: to convert a collection of chosen books into audiobooks, through getting the help of some professional colleagues and to communicate with blind students who suffer this problem and to listen to their suffering and needs and the most important short comes in term of books. The team continued their work and consulted some other colleagues about the easiest ways to convert books into audio materials, and the best sound and performance, and how to download such books using special programs from the internet to reach finally their goal and solve the problem of their colleague.
