I wouldn't expect them to, either. E-cards, yes. I appreciate the gesture.

Some of them Dec 14, 2017

Some of my clients send physical or e-cards over the Christmas period, but it seems to be a rotating group of clients each year. One year I even got a Christmas card from my bank.

Yes, many of them Dec 14, 2017

send e-cards.
I once got an end-of-year bonus of 100 USD.
But no other gifts, and I don't expect that either, because most of my clients are international agencies and CROs.

Some do! Dec 14, 2017

I usually receive both snail and e-cards and the occasional inexpensive gift or treat.

This is an unthought question.
And the 0.7% who answered "all of them" are obviously joking.

Emails only Dec 14, 2017

I get some emails from agencies addressed to all their clients and when I do, I also respond. That's all. I don't expect anything else.

I was invited to a "suppliers party"!

I've only been working with the company for a few months, but anyway, they invited all their suppliers, graphic designers, printers, etc. and little me to a booze-up at a café in the hip end of town. I didn't want to go in the least but I thought it would be churlish not to. Luckily the first person I said hello to was one of my contacts there, and I had been invited to dinner afterwards to so was able to graciously bow out after an hour or so

I didn't want to go in the least but I thought it would be churlish not to. Luckily the first person I said hello to was one of my contacts there, and I had been invited to dinner afterwards to so was able to graciously bow out after an hour or so of polite conversation, well before the moment when the wine on an empty stomach might make me do something I'd regret later, like a striptease on the table or whatever it is I do in those situations.

Always 1 or 2 Jan 18, 2018

So far, there's been 1 or 2 clients each year that went to the trouble of sending actual gifts. Different ones each time as well. From business card holders through specialised dictionaries to wine and chocolate.
Takes me by surprise every time. It's very effective at making me feel special.
Cards - both eCards and physical ones - are more common.
