I was born in La Paz, Bolivia, so my native language is Spanish. My father did his medical practice in the U.S.A. I grew up in Chicago and Michigan, where I did elementary and middle school. That's why I consider English a native language also. I finished high school in La Paz, Bolivia, in a bilingual school. After finishing school, I went to Buenos Aires, Argentina, and started medical school. After two years, I changed careers and graduated in Analytical Chemistry.
In 1992, I returned to Bolivia, where I started working at the Coca-Cola bottling plant as a Quality Control supervisor. Over the years, I've gone through most of the company's divisions, especially in technical departments: production, maintenance, plant operations, and engineering.
In 1999 the franchise was sold, and the factory was auctioned to a British corporation, so we received frequent visits from British executives. As I was responsible for plant operations and spoke fluent English, I served as a "liaison" between the company's top management and British executives. I carried out tasks as an interpreter and translator for meetings and documents. This first experience as a translator and interpreter lasted about five months and was key to my future decision to make translation my main activity.
After leaving the bottling company (after 17 years), I opened my own business.
(Technical Consulting S.R.L.). I had many contacts with this company in Europe, Asia, and the U.S.A. Because we provided imported machinery and industrial supplies to the Bolivian industry, I had the great opportunity to travel to Europe and the U.S. for business. I rely on my English for business communication (and when in Germany, in my intermediate-level German).
I love languages. I studied German and have my "Zertifikat Deutsch als Fremdsprache," which recognizes that I can speak and understand everyday German.
In 2010, I was hired as manager of a bottling plant in Bolivia for seven years until October
2017, a job I executed with complete dedication and passion.
I have been working as a freelance translator in the English-Spanish pair since February
2018. I mainly translated complete pharmaceutical dossiers covering clinical trials, therapeutic actions, pharmacokinetics, and manufacturing procedures.
For the last two years, I have also done various translations for local and international companies and agencies in the following areas: mining, business, industrial, engineering, and MTPE string editing. H.T. string translations, audio from phone conversations. In both directions of my language pair.
My studies in medicine and chemistry allow me to translate scientific documents easily. My years of industry and entrepreneurship enable me to translate comfortably in engineering, industry, technical, and business.
I am a dedicated and meticulous worker and will always give my best for each job.
