I am a translator, writer and journalist. And was born in Uruguay, where I am back since 2005 for family reasons, after I lived in Madrid and Jerusalem. Spanish is my mother tongue, and I have an experience of more than 25 years in writing, translations, journalism, proofreading and publicity. As a translator, I worked (and continue doing so) in Hebrew, English, French and, of course, Spanish.

Translations that sound as natural as the original

Apart from a manuscript and other texts from French into Spanish, I translated more than a dozen books from English into my mother tongue, most of them published in Spain, and one in Mexico (although it was printed in Argentina).

The most interesting book I translated was published in Spain (where I lived for 12 years) by prestigious publishing house SIRUELA, and in Mexico by well known FONDO DE CULTURA ECONÓMICA. The original name of the book in English is Major Trends of Jewish Mysticism (Las grandes tendencias de la mística judía in the Spanish version), and its author is Gershom Scholem, unanimously considered the most important scholar in the field.

The rest of the books I translated were released by different publishing houses belonging to big Spanish PLANETA Group, for which I translated also comics like the classical Conan the Barbarian. I also translated lots of articles in the vast field of Liberal Arts and Humanities, as well as politics, actuality, literature and many more.

For PLANETA publishing group I was the editor of a women’s magazine, as well as the head of a team of translators. In this position I did, naturally, proofreading.

Writing and reporting in two languages

After studying Philology in Spain, I was part of a team in Madrid that produced an English-Spanish and Spanish-English dictionary for publishing house COLLIER MACMILLAN. Aside from that, I wrote in Spanish the book Jerusalén, la ciudad santa de las tres religiones (Jerusalem, the Holy City of Three Religions in English), that was released in Madrid by MONTENA publishing house (that belongs to Italian publisher MONDADORI).

As a journalist, in my job as correspondent of Spanish official news agency EFE, I wrote hundreds of articles on all conceivable subjects based on original information and texts (be it written, on radio and TV, or on interviews) in Hebrew, English and French. I reported on events in Israel (and sometimes in Egypt) in countless fields: of human interest, political, scientific discoveries, tourism, cultural, archaeology and many more. 

From Jerusalem I also wrote for many years in Spain’s most important newspapers: El País, ABC and El Mundo.

Since I am back in Montevideo, I work as a correspondent for the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth (the name means 'last news') for which I cover in Hebrew information concerning the most important and interesting events in Latin America.

Whether as a translator, a writer, a journalist or a philologist, I undertake with passion and dedication everything related with words… a field I love.
