Regarding your "rpm" concern, what I understand is that the experiment involves stirring growth, or better said, growth is stirred. In the experiment certain methods and equipment are used... rpm....

Of course take other friends' suggestions into account. Actually I have reasons which support and others which undermine my understanding....
That's why I said you are familiar with the whole story and you decide...

Dear Asker,

You have two contexts, one for your original entry and one as a discussion entry. My suggestion, I think, fits the first context. When in the discussion entry you change the context, the suggestion/equivalent might change too. in other words, when the contexts change, you cannot expect the equivalent to stay the same.
Anyway, you are better familiar with the whole story and it is you who decides...
