Discussion

Radovan Pletka Nov 24, 2006:
and added they may needed, as the translator they picked is asking the first question about the title. If they will send me the translation for free review, I will be the first to apologize to you and honor you for a good job.
Radovan Pletka Nov 24, 2006:
One more note: All this happened because the Canadian agency, after rejecting my price, asked me to do the editing, and at the same time I saw your question about the title. I rejected the editing, your question not being the reason, and wished them luck
Martin Janda Nov 24, 2006:
Radovan Pletka Nov 24, 2006:
with bad translation, which could cause serious harm, which is the case here. Do you really need $100 or whatever they pay you for this so badly, that you are willing to risk harm to other people? How many dead will mess your credentials for good?
Radovan Pletka Nov 24, 2006:
translation to the client. I can prove it. I also refused to do editing on this job, because I don't clean other translators mess, if I can avoid it, and here I could. I have no problem with bad translation of remote control manual. But I have a problem
Radovan Pletka Nov 24, 2006:
But I am not the one, who could harm others by taking the over my head job. I know my limitations, and I know when to ask for help. As I was worried about potentially explosive results of poor translation in this case, I offered a FREE check of this
Radovan Pletka Nov 24, 2006:
clear you do not have an expert available and you still took this job. This is irresponsible in my book. If you see it differently, feel free to explain me, where I am wrong. I have no problem apologizing to anybody, who was harmed by anything I did.
Radovan Pletka Nov 24, 2006:
I also had a hard time locating an expert in the field for editing this job and I think you will have even more difficulties to find him as well. I also think it is irresponsible to take such job without having an expert available. From your question was
Radovan Pletka Nov 24, 2006:
I wished you good luck. I still think you will need it. I didn't bid on it, I told the client the price I was willing to do this including editing by an expert in the field and the client said that was higher than what they bid on it, as I expected.
Apolonia Vanova (asker) Nov 24, 2006:
This person verbally confirmed that you have tried to discredit my credentials. How low is this action of yours? Backstabbing? Aren’t you ashamed?
I don’t want anything from you Radovan, do not answer any of my postings and keep the so called “wise” comments for yourself. You certainly need them.
Apolonia Vanova (asker) Nov 24, 2006:
But you did not stop there, you got in touch with the company which posted this translation and gave them some statements with which you have tried to discredit my credentials. The company sent me two emails, I called them immediately and spoke with the person and asked what the problem was… etc.
Apolonia Vanova (asker) Nov 24, 2006:
After starting to translate the project I have posted two entries on ProZ.com to get some suggestions from other ProZ.com members. You were the first to comment (see above). As usual, you do it to other translators as well. But did you realize how transparent your comments were?
Apolonia Vanova (asker) Nov 24, 2006:
To Radovan Pletka: This is to answer your question Radovan and very publicly so. Today there was a posting on Proz.com and as you say in your “advice” you did not take it because they could not pay your rate. I had no idea that you bid on this project, but it is not to say that your bidding would have stopped me from trying to get this translation.
Radovan Pletka Nov 23, 2006:
Is it a good idea to take this job when you have a problem even with a title? This Canadian agency was not able to pay my rate. I hope you know what you are doing, otherwise it may really blow into your face. Good luck, you will need it.
