Hi - I'm looking for a good translation of kontinuitetsbærer, "continuity bearer/carrier" makes little sense in English. I was thinking perhaps of "carry-over" but I don't think that expresses the benefit the person provides.
It's used in the following example. Thanks for your help!

It would help to know what sport this is: motor racing, football or ice hockey etc. as the metaphor of 'gi jernet' - stepping on it - is used and flag-/ standard-bearer or perpetuator of tradition might be better suited.
Alas, my entry for the 1984 Olympic Marathon in Los Angeles had been a one-off and certainly not a sign of continuity.
