Przełom vs. at the turn off I tu jest właśnie ta różnica między angielskim a polskim. "Turn" jest, moim zdaniem, dość wąsko pojętym przełomem. Używany jest rzadziej niż inne wersje, właśnie ze względu na to.

Pozwolę się zgodzić z Pytającą. "Przełom" zazwyczaj oznacza 2-4 lata od daty "zerowej" w obydwie strony, IMVHO. Chyba że ktoś żąda 3-6; 4-8/niepotrzebne skreślić ;-)

Nie podalam, kontekstu z braku czasu, poniewaz uwazam, ze nie jest on w przypadku tego wyrazenia konieczny. Cos mialo miejsce na przelomie tych lat i tyle. Dziekuje bardzo za wszystkie propozycje.

"Na przełomie lat ..." po polsku czasem odnosi się ściśle do wydarzeń z roku 1959 i 1960, a czesem dotyczy wydarzeń z końca lat pięćdziesiątych i początku sześćdziesiątych. Angielskie odpowiedniki nie są w ten sam sposób dwuznaczne.

Propozycje odpowiedzi idą w różnych kierunkach. Rafał Piotrowski kieruje się w stronę "przełomu", czyli 59/60, Lena zaś proponuje najszerszy przedział. Pozostali są pomiędzy.

during the 50's and 60's

"Na przelomie" is literally translated as "at the turn of the" but this English term collocates best with century, i.e. "At the turn of the century." Therefore, if it fits the context, I would consider using "during."

disagree Rafal Piotrowski : That would cover a period between 1950 & 1969. Too long; the period meant (IMHO) covers no more than 2-4 years, rather than nearly two decades. Sorry :-/ With "centuries" - fully agreed, though :-)
