Italian term

coccoloso

Italian to English Social Sciences Idioms / Maxims / Sayings colloquio psicologico clinico
"Anche se lui certe volte è così coccoloso... Ma non credo che lo sia con me... Forse lo fa per farmi piacere... Però, insomma, sì, è affettuoso..."

A woman is speaking of her relationship with the man she thinks she loves. I'm searching for a corresponding colloquial idiom in english.

(btw, I'd also appreciate some help with the 'broken speech' bit: 'però, insomma, sì')

TIA!

lovey-dovey

Just a suggestion, seeing as you can't really use "affectionate" twice in the same sentence.

Comment: "many thanks to all - I don't think cuddly was so wrong, since as far as I can get from the dictionaries it works in both 'directions'. however, I choose lovey-dovey because it's a bit colloquial and childish, as coccoloso is, and it also mantains some allitteration. ciao :o)"

cuddly

and the broken speech bit: but, in the end, yes, he is affectionate
Peer comment(s):

agree Daniela Zambrini : yes, don't we all feel we need cuddles every now and then? :-)

disagree Claire Titchmarsh (X) : agree with the broken speech bit, but cuddly describes your attitude towards the person, not their attitude towards you, if I say someone is cuddly it means that they're "huggable".

wants cuddles

"Even if he sometimes wants cuddles.... But I don't think he wants them from me ... Maybe he does it to make me happy ... But, anyway, yes, he is affectionate ..."
