Hi folks, this is an art history text. I can't seem to find any references anywhere. Here's the whole sentence.
La diffusione dell’iconografia del Cristo crocifisso non coincide con quella dell’iconografia della croce. In sostanza ci si trova in presenza di tre tipi di rappresentazione: la croce pura e semplice, che già figura fin dai primi anni del cristianesimo; il Cristo crocifisso (triumphans prima - XII sec. - e patiens poi, dal XIII) nelle croci tabellate; le crocifissioni, sia su tavola che ad affresco. In quest’ultima, talvolta, il Tau prende il posto della consueta croce. È il caso degli esempi sopra esposti.

tabular/tabulated cross (flat surface)
Maybe a long shot, but tabellate could be tabular or tabulated i.e. something with a flat surface (cross with a flat surface which the crucified Christ is placed on).

rileggendo la frase mi convinco della mia interpretazione: la prima e\' una croce semplice, la seconda ha le tabelle sui bracci, l\'ultima e\' una crocifissione su tavola o affresco, non una croce - chissa\' se convinco anche te, catherine!
