German term
Haltemomentlager
German to English
Tech/Engineering
Energy / Power Generation
wind power
This is a new kind of bearing for use in a wind turbine. There's a picture of one on page 1 of this:

It seems to be a German invention and perhaps there isn't yet an English name for it. I assume "Moment" in the name is "torque". Is "Halte" for "holding" or for "stopping"?

bearing transmitting the holding torque
something like that I think (whereas the opposite would be the Antriebsmoment)

Comment: "Thank you Sybille and Johannes for your well considered contributions. I used Sybille's idea and called it "holding torque bearing". At least "holding torque" exists, even though, as my and Johannes' research shows, confirmation of my translation can't be found on the Web."

clamping hub (clutch brake)
Clamping hub load holding overload protection for all chain and belt drives
The ROBA®-clamp is used as overload protection for machine drives with chain sprockets or belt pulleys. It is used wherever expensive, sensitive motors, transmission units or machinery components require protection against overloads.

Holding torque
Sometimes called static torque, holding torque specifies the maximum external torque that can be applied to a stopped, energized motor without causing the rotor to rotate.

The patented model EC20 Long-Life Clutch Brake from Reell Precision Manufacturing is designed to provide stopping and holding torque in addition to clutching.
