English term

jigged

English Bus/Financial Management board game
Description of the board in a children's board game:
Contents: 1 jigged board (etc).
I thought it may means something like "embossed", but I've seen some pictures of "jigged boards" on the internet and I don't think they are embossed (they may be though).
Here are some:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Orchard-Toys-Whats-Time-Wolf/dp/B000...
(the beehive as well as the house in the images above are separate items in the contents).

Dictionary definitions of the verb "to jig" don't seem very helpful:

v.intr.

1. To dance or play a jig.
2. To move or bob up and down jerkily and rapidly.
3. To operate a jig.

v.tr.

1. To bob or jerk (something) up and down or to and fro.
2. To machine (an object) with the aid of a jig.
3. To separate or clean (ore) by shaking a jig.

Thanks in advance!

interlocking

Same principle as jigsaw puzzle pieces. The usage seems to be almost exclusive to Orchard Toys.

See e.g. the following referernce, in particularthe 'jigged beanstalk' pieces (at the right in the picture), and the 'jigged game boards' are too big to fit in the box, so they must consist of severl pieces that fit togeter like jigsaw puzzle pieces:

agree Lori S : Jig saws, for example, cut small interlocking pieces....jig puzzles are interlocking shapes that create a design or picture.

IMO the creator of the term 'jigged' confused the tool with a feature of an object produced using the tool. A jig saw can be used to cut all sorts of intricate shapes. Incidentally, cardboard jigsaw puzzle pieces are die-cut, not cut with a jig saw.

shaped

I think this means "cut with a jigsaw" into some special shape. BTW your last link doesn't seem to work.
