¿Las aguas convergen o el agua converge?

Spanish to English Art/Literary General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters grammatical point.
¿Las aguas convergen o el agua converge? es lo que quiero saber. Would it be the water converges or the waters converge. Water is singular hence the question or is it one of these ambiguous nouns? Thank you for the help

Discussion

Giovanni Rengifo Jul 4, 2008:
You may want to consider "...our lives have come together in bliss" as an alternative version. Hope you'll like it. ;-)
cw010 (X) (asker) Jul 4, 2008:
Like waters converge and waves that caress the shore, our lives have reached a happy union. Is the context. its for a wedding invitation.
Giovanni Rengifo Jul 4, 2008:
"water" can be pluralized too, as in "ocean and river waters converge..."

the waters converge

Although, without a context, I don't know if there's a better way of saying this or not. But anyway. Good luck! :)

Yep...Now we have more context, and as some colleagues are commenting, it would sound much nicer as follows:
'Like waters converging and waves that caress...'

Thank you Giovanni, grazie. :)
agree Noni Gilbert Riley : Has to be plural for convergence to be possible... Unless, as you say, you change the words altogether.
