Italian term

canne avvitate

Italian to English Tech/Engineering Automotive / Cars & Trucks
I am proofreading a document and the translator has translated this term as "screwed barrels". The translator is not convinced by this and neither am I. can anyone help? or reassure me that this is correct. Here is some context: "Il piccolo quattro cilindri di Lampredi, a canne avvitate"

screwed (cylinder) liners

Lampredi is an engine designer who used a system of a wet cilinder liner which can be screwed in the cyliner head to prevent head gasket failure

threaded cylinder liners

High confidence for the "cylinder liner" or "linings" part but not so sure about the "avvitate" because I don't think they are normally screwed in, but of course back in the thirties they did all sorts of things.
