Spanish term

se orienta como

Spanish to English Medical Medical: Pharmaceuticals
This comes from a report (from Spain) of a patient hospitalized for heart failure. The report describes the patient's medications: "...se suspende la warfarina y se inicia anticoagulación con heparina sódica" ... Then there is a problem with the platelet count: "...se observa un descenso progresivo de la cifra de plaquetas.... *Se orienta como* una TIH [heparin induced thrombocytopenia] que se confirma posteriormente con estudio de anticuerpos."

Does 'se orienta como' mean 'it looks like' or 'it behaves like'? ¿It appears to be? I'm not sure what to do with this word 'orientarse' in this context.

¡Gracias por la ayuda!

presumptive diagnosis

Definition of presumptive diagnosis
Diagnosis made solely on the basis of symptoms, without the use of specific diagnostic tests.
http://www.geneed.com/website/catalog/glossary_search.php?id...

Podrías decir algo así como: A presumptive diagnosis of HIT was made and subsequently confirmed by antibodies testing.

No es una traducción literal, pero es lo que quiere decir el texto.
