Kontext: Zerstörungsfreie Prüfung (non-destructive testing) mittels Wirbelstromverfahren (meine Vermutung), wobei für große Bauteile auch eine große Spule benötigt wird, um das Magnetfeld zu erzeugen (Prüfung ohne Zerlegung/ohne allmähliches "Abscannen" des Prüflings).

Well, not quite. To a degree, I was misreading what the asker had posted (i.e. I was under the impression that it was the Magnetisierung which was causing most of the trouble here ...). I am sticking to my basic interpretation, but the proper expression should read: [to test complex components] "magnetizing them in one go".

The words "step" and "run" have the same meaning in this context - it presumably means an energization of the solenoid to apply the field.
