perspectiva reticular

Spanish to English Art/Literary Art, Arts & Crafts, Painting
Si la duradera convención del espacio cartesiano, aquélla que fija la perspectiva reticular para establecer el paso perceptual de tres a dos dimensiones, fue construida a partir de las arquitecturas renacentistas...

Is this just called "perspective" in English? "Grid-based perspective"? It is NOT reticular perspective, that's for sure!
Thanks

multi-faceted perspective

Seems to fit in with the 2/3 dimensional statement later. Just my suggestion.

perspective as a series of point grids

Traditionally, architecture is conceptualized as Cartesian space, as a series of point grids

Include the word grid (see suggestions below)

Si la duradera convención del espacio cartesiano, aquélla que fija la perspectiva reticular para establecer el paso perceptual de tres a dos dimensiones, fue construida a partir de las arquitecturas renacentistas...

My rough suggestions:
... which establishes perspective on a grid/pins down perspective on a grid/etc. allowing the perceptual leap from three to two dimensions...

applies perspective to a grid
portrays perspective on a grid

Perhaps a bit more context would help to know what we're dealing with here, but given that it's arts...
With my rather rough answer I think what I'm trying to say is that we don't have to try to say anything like "grid-based" which I'm not too keen on, but that I think it is necessary to include the word "grid" (Google Cartasian grid and see the list of possibilities which are suggested)... the point is that using a grid allowed Renaissance artists (obsessed with perspective) to depict perspective on the page, to make a leap in the brain (has something to do with whether we're working with the left or right hand side of the brain) from 3D to 2D, preventing artists from drawing what they thought they saw in favour of something closer to reality....

I would probably go for something like this if it was my job, although I'm sure with some refining and a better idea of the subject matter it would come across better. I hope this helps, anyway.
One for the pot :)

agree Lourdes Sanchez : agree, the word reticular refers to the (x,y,z) parameters in cartesian representation which form a grid. http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:3D_Cartesian_coordina...

agree Evans (X) : yes, "grid" is important here
