Hi, I am an avid researcher of symbols, secret societies and world cultures.
Often a symbol can be represented in its "true" form - take the Celtic triskel or cross - while shedding little light on its true meaning, or even taking the original meaning and implementing the symbol for other uses (religions have done this with many native symbols).

Symbols often misrepresented in form are: the Christmas tree - Yggdrasil, the Holy Graal (often spelled Grail), David's star, the Circle, etc..

Oh, as a curiosity, here in Europe we have large pyramids and there are large stone circles (like Stonehenge) in the USA.

: This is very close. The idea seems to be for me that societies actively hide an esoteric meaning behind a more exoteric one. There's a name for this, but Vincent is close enough. I don't think the translation means active misreading - but active hiding.
