French term

audit

French to English Tech/Engineering Computers: Systems, Networks Remote electricity metering
Is this a redundant "et" or does it mean "et le BESOIN des systèmes d’audit inter-équipements"?

Du fait de la possibilité de mettre à jour les paramètres via l’IHM locale ***et*** afin d’éviter des incohérences et des systèmes d’***audit*** inter-équipements, le concentrateur est toujours le maître de sa configuration.

I didn't know this, but now you've told me, it makes perfect sense in the context - thanks again meirs

Smells like Audit in the CM sense CM - Configuration Management. There is a CM audit system that audits the application configuration coherence among the various boxes
claude-andrew (asker) Aug 21, 2010:
Absolutely, Isabelle - I actually meant to highlight the second "et" - my mistake, well spotted and thanks!
Isabelle Parsley Aug 21, 2010:
My guess would be the "et" is indeed redundant. However, I think it's the second "et" that's redundant, not the first. It would thus read: "...local IHM, and in order to avoid discrepancies in the inter-equipment audit systems..." (Not a great trans but you get my drift.)

I'm not sure you can infer that it would avoid the NEED for audit systems, unless other context makes it a viable option?

to avoid inconsistencies and inter-hardware audit systems

I think it's meant to be there. Audit is used now as in English in finance and IT.
