Spanish term
Si me sueltas, me caigo
Spanish to English
Art/Literary
Art, Arts & Crafts, Painting
title of art exhibition
This is the name of an exhibition of artwork in Mexico. I have translated it as, "If you leave me, I'm done" but wonder about:
1. si me sueltas, should there be an "a" in front of the "me" if it is the direct object?
2. me caigo, does that work as "I'm done"

Hi Kathy, thanks for points but these should really go to Rich, as he posted before me (at 5 mins, my entry was at 6 mins). Not sure how to go about changing the points - maybe someone here can shed some light on that?

If you leave me, I'm done for / If you leave me, I'm finished
No "a" necessary. It would be nice to have a little more context, but these are catchy titles.

: "If you leave me" connects best here. :)
In this case, I agree... again. :)

Thanks, Thayenga. The asker seemed pretty certain of that part of the interpretation, so I didn't question it.

: Yep, "If you leave me" sounds better and I prefer "I'm finished."

I guess you have more context that leads you to understand that it's about relationships and someone leaving someone else. But without knowing this I'd go more literal as per my answer, which could also fit with the relationship context

the implications of the "other connotations" seem to be fitting given the subject matter of the exhibition posted below by Phil http://tiny.cc/yi6y6
"Si me sueltas, me caigo", refleja la vulnerabilidad de Mónica y su necesidad de sentirse sujetada, mediante la unión, con pequeñas ligas y apretadores, de dos figuras de cartón.
Mónica Reyes indica que el trabajo que presenta es fruto de una instrospección, un autoanálisis en el que no tiene reparo en manifestar su vulnerabilidad, la necesidad de sentirse sostenida y protegida en determinados momentos de la vida.
